Formats
Recognized inputs, offered outputs and rejected types.
Detection checks GIF first because it is always video, then MIME type, then file extension.
Verified matrix
| Category | Recognized inputs | Offered outputs | Engine |
|---|---|---|---|
| Video | MP4, MKV, WEBM, AVI, MOV, GIF | MP4, MKV, WEBM, AVI, MOV, GIF | FFmpeg |
| Audio | MP3, WAV, AAC, OGG, FLAC, M4A | MP3, WAV, AAC, OGG, FLAC | FFmpeg |
| Image | JPG, PNG, WEBP; BMP/TIFF when decoded by the browser | JPG, PNG, WEBP | Canvas |
M4A is an audio input, not an output. TIFF and BMP are not output formats.
Defaults
| Category | Default format |
|---|---|
| Video | MP4 |
| Audio | MP3 |
| Image | JPG |
You can change the format in the queue before conversion and edit the output base name. SwissKnife manages the target extension.
Rejected types
Everything else, including PDFs, documents, archives and unknown types, is rejected with a banner and never enters the queue.
Available codecs remain those in @ffmpeg/core@0.12.6. A listed input/output pair is not a guarantee that every file will succeed. See Actual limitations.
